Aljunied Brothers and Toko Aljunied

The shop owners of this two shops (below and above) are probably the first Arabs to come to Singapore.

Feelings about Kampong Glam

Hi everyone,

I am Yi Xuan,On 30th March,Our whole class went on a learning trip to the Kampong Glam.
The Kampong Glam has many histories. For example, the sultan gate in Kampong Glam was
named after Sultan Husanssha.Kampong Glam is a very good learning experience for me
and my friend. The four immigrant groups who were the first residents of Kampong
Glam are the Malays,Arrabs,Bugis and lastly is the Javanese. When we walked around the
Kampong Glam,we saw many shophouses. There is two architectural features of the shop
houses. There is a high ceiling and windows.I did not know why and I asked my teacher,
she say Singapore is a tropical country,so we need this architectural features for
ventilisation.Oh! The kampong glam is really a good learning experience for us.We really
enjoy ourselves over there!
